1. What are the primary medical specialties in which you were originally trained (e.g., pediatrics, family medicine)?
Family Medicine with special training in nutritional medicine and Lyme disease.
2. Approximately how many individuals with autism have you treated, and what is the age range?
About 500 + patients over a period of 6 - 8 years. Ages range from 18 months to 40 years old
3. Do you usually have a waiting list?
Yes
4. On the average, how long do you spend face-to-face with a new patient for an initial consultation?
60 - 90 minutes
5. After the first consultation, what is the average length of an appointment?
1 follow visit is 60 minutes. Subsequent visits are 30 minutes
6. Are your patients advised to use special diets such as GF/CF, SCD, low-oxalate, etc.?
Yes, based on the individual child`s needs we`ll recommend GF/CF, Feingold, SCD, Anti-Candida diets among others.
7. Can you collaborate with other specialists we will be dealing with (e.g., gastroenterologists)?
Yes
8. Are you willing to collaborate on treatment and testing with a child’s pediatrician if he/she is receptive?
Yes, to the extent possible based on the pediatrician`s level of knowledge and receptiveness.
9. Do you or anyone in your office speak languages other than English?
No
10. Are you willing to offer phone consultations for distant patients?
Yes, but only after an initial visit in the office.
11. Do you provide any form of after-hours support?
No.
12. Do you sell proprietary nutritional supplements or have a sales agreement with supplement suppliers? Do you sell supplements at list price or less?
We carry some nutritional supplements for convenience. These are special hypoallergenic products for kids on the autism spectrum. They are sold at the suggested price or less.
13. Do you take insurance? If not, do you provide organized, coded insurance forms?
No, we do not take insurance. Each patient is provided a detailed superbill which may be sent with a claim form to insurance for reimbursement.
14. Do you bill for laboratory tests done by commercial laboratories? How do you break down the fees?
Patients may have the laboratory bill their insurance directly or they can prepay and the bill their insurance on their own.
15. Is there a reason you might not bill for an office visit?
We do offer discounted rates for families under financial hardship determined on a case by case basis.
