2. Approximately how many individuals with autism have you treated, and what is the age range?
Approximately 200 from 2 years old to 21 years old (including my own individual practice and the Defeat Autism Now! M.D. I support)
3. Do you usually have a waiting list?
2 - 4 weeks.
4. On the average, how long do you spend face-to-face with a new patient for an initial consultation?
1.5 - 2 hours
5. After the first consultation, what is the average length of an appointment?
Varies, 1 - 1.5 hours. Also offer email and quick phone consults in between appointments
6. Are your patients advised to use special diets such as GF/CF, SCD, low-oxalate, etc.?
Initially I recommend a healthy, foundation diet. From there I recommend GF/CF, SCD, LOD as suggested by test results, history and current symptoms
7. Can you collaborate with other specialists we will be dealing with (e.g., gastroenterologists)?
Yes, I often refer patients to specialists or a Defeat Autism Now! M.D. when beyond the scope of my practice. I have collaborated with allergists, psychitrists, therapists.
8. Are you willing to collaborate on treatment and testing with a child’s pediatrician if he/she is receptive?
Yes, as a nutrionist, I have been successful collaborating with pediatricians for some testing & prescribed treatments
9. Do you or anyone in your office speak languages other than English?
No.
10. Are you willing to offer phone consultations for distant patients?
Yes!
11. Do you provide any form of after-hours support?
Yes, I am available by phone & email. If necessary, I offer after hours consults. I also make house calls.
12. Do you sell proprietary nutritional supplements or have a sales agreement with supplement suppliers? Do you sell supplements at list price or less?
Yes. Some supplier I have agreements with include Klaire/Prothera, NeuroScience, New Beginnings, Kirkman Labs, Designs for Health, Xymogen. I discount approximately 10% for most suppliers
13. Do you take insurance? If not, do you provide organized, coded insurance forms?
No. I do provide ICD-9 codes.
14. Do you bill for laboratory tests done by commercial laboratories? How do you break down the fees?
I only bill if additional time is required to faciliate the laboratory testing process. If I am able to complete the paperwork within the billed appointment, I do not charge extra.
15. Is there a reason you might not bill for an office visit?
Picking up supplements or test kits. Quick question related to previous recommendations.
